Addison’s Photography Journey - Dog Photography in the Quad Cities

May I introduce Addison, the most precious St. Bernard! Liz had the privilege of photographing this sweet girl at Vander Veer Botanical Park in Davenport, Iowa, this past August. Her pawrents, Amy and John, signed up for their dog photography journey to celebrate Addison’s 1st birthday! After discussing a bit more about their vision for the session, Amy and John decided they wanted some contemporary images and that we would book a studio setting for the birthday-themed images (more on that later!). Liz suggested a few different locations in the Quad City area before they selected this beautiful urban city park.

Capturing Memories

City parks can be a great place to take a wide variety of images. Bouncing from those striking urban settings to a cozy woodland feel in a flash! Under Liz’s professional guidance and her pawrents absolute rockstar cooperation, Addison settled right into the process and was more than happy to pose once she knew there were some tasty treats in exchange for her efforts. Treating with high value and frequency is the key to capturing images of happy pups!

Grasping personality in her images is always Liz’s number one goal. By consistently keeping the session fun and engaging it almost guarantees that the subject will stay relaxed. This allows their traits to naturally unfold right in front of the camera! Just as Addison was enjoying her photo session and chose to roll around near a flower bed allowing Liz to capture an adorable candid moment. No matter if your dog is a happy-go-lucky ball of energy or a shy timid more laid-back pup Liz takes her years of experience working with animals to make sure all her subjects are happy and comfortable.

The Reveal

After the photo session, Liz went home and excitedly got to work reviewing every image and selecting only the best of the best! Her final gallery consisted of 13 images. Each is unique in capturing a different pose and location. Amy and John were overjoyed with the results and after some easy deliberation, they chose one of her collections, taking home a large 20x30 wall piece, a few mounted prints, and several digitals on an MJ Pawtography memory capsule. Each guaranteed to preserve their beautiful birthday girl for many years to come.

Looking to get your pup a chance to be in front of the lens?

What are the pet parents saying?

Liz is amazing at what she does! She knows just what to do to ger the perfect shot of your baby!!... She doesn’t overwhelm you with a ton of pictures to choose from on the reveal day. So that was extremely nice. She made everything quick and easy and left us with memories that will last a lifetime! If you are on the fence about doing this... I say DO IT! You won’t regret it!!!
